                             Life during world war two

This report is about life in world war two.

Life was hard in world war two because people were worried incase of an air raid, there was hardly any food for the family, children were evacuated and the black outs were scary.

Houses

The houses in the war were really small in the war but big enough to fit a family in it well sometimes it only had the father and the mother were there because of their kids being evacuated. Some houses had secret hideouts like a room behind a bookcase or a door under the carpet. Most times they would catch you but sometimes they wouldn't.

Air raids

The air raids were when the German planes came from Germany to bomb Britain and to raid the air. While the air raids if you were inside you would have to hide under a table or hide under a bed to get away from the bombs. If you were in school wile an air raid they would put on their gas masks and still do there work and the teachers would still teach.

 Blackouts

When you were in a black out you would have to turn off all of the lights in the house so the Germans couldn't see were they were but the Germans just done it anyway and bombed were ever they could. The black outs were bad for people that were scared of the dark because they were not aloud to put on a light or the Germans would see them and bomb them.

 Evacuation

In the war children had to be evacuated for there safety. They were taking to the countryside to live with foster parents. Away from all the bombs because the Germans went for he big Cities like Edinburgh, Glasgow and London they didn't waste the bombs on little places like the countryside.

That is what it was like in world war two it was rather scary for the children and the women but people did do it.

Home life during World War 2

My report is about the life of people in World War 2

I will be telling you about air raids, living in a shelter, evacuation  , rations and a conclusion

Air raids

The fist air raid happened in London also people would use

Gas masks encase of Hitler dropping any bombs with gas,

City would be an open target for air raids many people died

In air raids but the I would say would have to the blitz which lasted   for 57 nights which many died in.

Evacuation

Some of the children would get letters home from school

Informing an adult about the children going to the countryside. But some kids died because of diseases. They would have special tags  to know who they were.

Houses

Houses would be bombed but some had blackouts. During an air raid people would go into cellars, underground stations, and Anderson shelters, Morrison shelters and under tables

Living in shelters

Some people built Morrison and Anderson shelters encase of air raids the good thing about the shelters   their bomb proof but Morrison shelters   are like prisons because they are a cage around and in an Anderson shelter you are cramped

Rations

Some people had special diets these are called rations they would have something like teas, sugar, eggs   and bacon other people could have war meals.

Life During WWII

This Report is about life during World War II.

How People escaped from the war is that they evacuate on any transport like evacuate by Trains and buses.

To Avoid the Gas for safety you will be using a gas mask to survive from gas but if you don’t have a gas mask you will not survive from gas.

To order rationed food use a Book to look what you would want during the war but if you don’t order rationed foods you will starve to death. Also what really happened is people nearly starve to death but quite a lot of British Ships were sunk by German Submarines.

Avoid German bombers by covering or painting windows with black paint.

You will be safe if you cover the windows in black if you don’t cover the windows then German bombers will bomb and kill you.

When done protecting the house you can protect somewhere like shelters from the bombs using Anderson or bomb shelter for protecting yourself  but some people might not use it they might use somewhere else safe many people survived in shelters but it is cold.

If people can have underground house areas they will be safe there to use it from German Bombers also to keep warm so you can survive as possible if you don’t die in the cold.

The last thing to keep safe in your house could be the tables but when they bomb it would not be hard to destroy the table you could have heating when keeping warm under the stairs.

Things would be the same or different to things have or not.

LIFE DURING WORLD WAR II

When the World War II started every one in Britain was in danger. Germans dropped bombs and life changed from normal to very, very different. Children’s evenings would be spent in shelters, people would starve to death and children had to be evacuated.

When Germans dropped bombs children and their family’s had to go out to their back gardens and into their shelters. Normally Germans would attack at the dead of night. When the Germans did attack a siren would go off to warn people of the coming attack. The two main shelters people would build were Anderson and Morrison, but stations, were free to the public. The shelters would be hard to sleep in because the shelters would have a rough surface, no heating and they would be crowded.

While the war was going on nearly everybody’s life became different. Some people lived in small houses. Normally you would have to share a toilet with your next-door neighbour! Having a bath wasn’t any better your whole family had to share the same water, so you wouldn’t be wasting it. At school you had to practice wearing gas masks, so when the children were evacuated they’d know to put them on without help.

When the war came to cities children had to be evacuated to the country or a safer place. When children got sent away the transport they’d use was a train and sometimes a bus. The children would march down the street with their teachers, to the train station where they would set off. Children went to foster parents. When children were at the station they had to wear a special tag with their name on it.

So this was what life was like during the war luckily we don’t live like this now but if we had it was very hard. Just think about sleeping in shelters every night, sharing a toilet with the people next door and going away from your parents.

Life during World War 2

This report will be talking about World War 2. It will be talking about what it was like living during that time. I hope you enjoy reading this report.

Air raids
In world war 2 it was very frightening because you did not know when a bomb was going to be dropped. usually when a bomb was going to be dropped a siren would be dropped( it was very loud and frightening). Many people usefully blackouts witch was you put anything black and put it over you're window so there was know light so aeroplanes couldn't see.

Shelters
In world war 2 there were many types of shelters such as Anderson shelter they protected you from bombs. There were many types of shelters such as Morrison, basement, public shelters, down in the cellar and even under a table.

School
When you were in school you always had to take you're gas mask if you didn't you would get in deep deep trouble. When you got in trouble you got the belt or the cane. The belt was when you're teacher hit you with a belt. The cane was when you're teacher hit you with a cane on the hand as hard as they could.

In our school we are learning about world war 2. We are learning about shelters just now and we have learned a little bit about Adolf Hitler.

We have learned about lots of things.

Life During WWII

Life during the War wasn’t very pleasant, below are a few things that happened during the War.

School

In school hours, gas masks were worn and there were a lot of air raid warning sirens going off, so the pupils were not very settled at school. Teachers were off absent every day and the male teachers were off fighting, so old retired teachers were asked to come and teach a class.

A lot of the time classes were taken out to museums and had nice days out.

Evacuees

Before the war started children were sent off to homes in the countryside, away from the bombs and the city air raids. Railway stations were filled with children in gas masks ready for their new life in the country. Their families were saying goodbye to their children, which they might never see again. Around 1.5 million children were evacuated during the war.

Food

Food was rationed in the war. Families had to register at butchers and local shops. They had to say how many people they had in their family, so the shopkeepers could sort out how much food would go to each family.

Sugar, butter, milk and all types of meat were rationed and there wasn’t much food per family.

Shelters

Bomb shelters were built in people’s gardens; there were two types of shelters, and Anderson shelter and a Morrison shelter. In the Anderson shelter, there was not much space, the whole family had to cram into a small space and stay there for the night. The hole went a metre under the ground and had sand bags on top for extra protection.

The Morrison shelter was basically like a cage. It was surrounded with metal bars, it was great for protection, but it wasn’t very comfortable.

Air Raids

During the night, there could be an air raid siren. This meant, that everyone in the house had to get into their shelter, quickly. As well as Anderson and Morrison shelters, there were public shelters, underground. Children were sent during the day to reserve their family a place.

Blackouts

During air raids, people had to black out their homes, so there was no light, windows were boarded up and the whole house was in darkness. Nobody could see a thing. If you were caught with your lights on, you would be fined.

During war, wasn’t a great time to live? There was no fun, it was all, gas masks and evacuees, you will probably agree, that during those times peoples lives were awful and you are probably glad that you weren’t alive then.

Home life during       World War 2

Intro

I am going to tell you what home life was like during the war. What they did at school, what people had to do when men where at war, what blackouts are and evacuation.

Evacuation

There many rules to what you had to do here are some rules. Mothers who had kids under five had to go. They where moved to the countryside. People did not have to go if they did not what to they could not force them to go anywhere. Parents tried to get people to go but it did not work.

School

At school Air raid alarms when of so when it was for real they would no what to do and where to go. When they where at school they had to where gas masks and anywhere they went. In the morning they got lessons on how to do sums and other things. In the afternoon they got lessons on evacuation.

Blackouts

Blackouts where used so the Air force people cannot see in your house or no that you are there. Every single light had to be turned of in the streets. They do that because some times it can save you sometimes.

Work that people had to do

Women had to do farming, cooking, work in factory’s, Making things for the war, making food for people, Looking after the kids that did not want to be evacuated, And to lots of other things.

Conclusion

This is what they had to do their lives back then were not very nice I think you will probably agree with me. You should be glad you where not alive back then because many people died in World War 2.

               World war 2 in Britain

World war 2 started in 1939 and ended in 1945, during that time place like Britain was not a nice place to stay.

In Britain a lot of men were away fighting so ladies had to do their jobs. People had to carry gas mask with them. A lot of children had to be evacuated from the major cities.  At night Germans would bomb the cities causing major destruction to houses.  People had to protect themselves from the bombs, they would hide, they would go to their Anderson or Morrison shelters or the local subway. People were poor and all their food had to be ration.

A lot of homes in Britain (especially London) were destroyed by the heavy bombardments at night. If your home did not get destroyed you would all be squashed in, because all your family would be in the one house. If your home did get destroyed you would have to go to the neighbours, church or school for shelter

People had to survive from the bombs so the government gave an Anderson or Morrison shelter to the poor, but if you were rich you would have to pay for your own. There was over ways to protect yourself like the going to the local subway. If you did not have a shelter or you were not near a subway, people would hide under tables or stairs, they were taking a big risk.

One of the problems in Britain was at night, the Germans  would bomb cities, these was called air raids and they would happen every night. This would cause major damage to homes, farms, religious buildings and government buildings. People were told to blackout their windows, so no light was not aloud to be shown because that would show the Germans that they’re was a house down bellow.

A lot of people were dieing, so the government made children go to the countryside so they where safe this was called evacuation. A lot of children had to leave their mums to go to a foster parent and somewhere safe. The children did not like this but the had to for their own sake.

Britain during the World War 2 had lost a lot of life and the had to rebuild major cities, lets hope that does not happen again.

Life during World War 2!!!

This Report is on life during World War II. How people lived and the way they survived. How they built their protection and what the way the children survived.

In the night the Germans started their Air raids. This was when they dropped bombes down on towns and cites.

The people of the town or city would have sirens to warn them that the planes were coming. Some people would flee to the underground or to there homes. People would be asked to turn off all lights, and shut all windows with their shutters, so that the planes could not see the town below. Sometimes the sirens would go off for a practice.

Nobody would be allowed to leave his or her houses until the all clear was given.

Houses during World War II would be almost the same as ours today but without some of our modern technology for example…

People hid in their houses in all kinds of places under the table, under the stairs, in cellars and basements even in cupboards.

Children where evacuated from there homes to the county side where people thought they would be safe. Families would take the children in until they could go home!

Hundreds at a time would be sent on the train and some never to come back.

Some children’s parents would be killed so they would have to stay on with their new families.

When an air raid or bombing was happening families would hide out in shelters in their back garden. These shelters would be home made there were three main kinds of shelters they were…

Morrison’s- this was a cage sometimes with beds in side.

Andersons- small out side home made shelter buried by soil and steal boards [very small].

Under ground public shelter- hundreds of people all in one room. This would probably be an under ground station.

If a child was not evacuated they would still go to school the school would have shelters to keep the children safe. The teacher’s sum of money would drop since most of the public money was sent to help the solders at war, or to help the homeless. Lessons would stay the same but practises for an air raid or bombing would take place regularly. All children and adults where to have gas masks with them at all time, because no one knew when they could be attacked.

When the war ended the world was in relief. The war had changed their life very much. Thousands died to save us and for peace. Most families where reunited but others to find out the horrid truth about their friends and family.

Life during WWII

My report is about WWII. I am going to tell you about what happed in school, what they would eat and how good was shelter.

SCHOOL

If you where in school and an Air raid wet off you would put on your gas mask and learn. If you where bad you would get the belt or the cane. If you don't know what the cane is it is like the belt but you put your hand out and they whip it as hard as they can.

FOOD

You would not have a lot of food because of rationing. You would have to try and get as much food as you could for your shelter and family.

SHELTERS

There are shelters like AndersonMorrison, public shelters believe it or not some people even hid under their kitchen table. You would get a shelter to protect you as good as possible.

We are learning as much as possible but there are a lot of stories and information to believe.

Life during WWII

In 1939 life in Britain was nothing like these days.

The men would be forced to join the army whilst women would go  and work in tank and bomb factories.

Children were evacuated to the country away from the bombs.

In Britain they had to have rationed food which meant the could only have 3 pints of milk, jam, tea, meat, cheese, sugar, butter and bacon.

The germans thought some new tactics they would bomb major buildings and cities. The cities that were bombed were Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool and London.

Over 2 million homes were destroyed in the air raids and 60,000 people were killed.

Citizens of the city would flee to the nearest Anderson shelter or underground station as soon as they heard the siren.

As you can see life in Britain was very different back then than these days.

Lots of people struggled and survived

But sadly others did not and found it difficult.
