Newsletters Session 2007/8 |
|
Dear Parents
Welcome to the first newsletter of the new session. Hopefully these newsletters will keep you up to date on what is happening, what has happened and what is going to happen in school as the session progresses. Along with interesting items we will give you the boring, but necessary information which you require e.g. the cost of school lunches. The term has started well with no tears ( except from the teachers ) and all the pupils are settling in well to their classes and getting to know their teachers. We have lost a few pupils, the Camerons and the Simmons (although Jack and Margaux may well return ), and we have a few new recruits as well as our new intake in Primary 1. Let’s get on with the information for you : Lunches : If possible please send in lunch monies on a Monday. The cost this session is £1.50 per day. Although Monday is when the money is paid into the bank pupils can have a lunch at short notice and can bring the money on the day. Milk : Payment for milk is now due : Period 1 : 20/08/07 – 21/12/07 : £12.45 Period 2 :07/01/08 - 30/03/08 : £7.65 Period 3 : 08/04/08 - 27/06/08 : £8.40 For the whole session : £28.40 ( much easier for you and the school ) All cheques should be made payable to East Lothian Council. Photographer : The photographer will be visiting the school on Thursday 23rd. August. Parents who wish family groups with pre-school brothers and sisters should come to the school at 9am. PE : Mrs Jones will be here to take PE on Wednesday morning. Children should have PE kit with them : shorts, t-shirt and soft shoes or trainers ( preferably not black soled ). This week P4/5/6/7 should have kit suitable for indoors and outdoors. Drinks in School : As a Health promoting school we encourage children to drink water throughout the day. This keeps them hydrated and helps their concentration. However, may we say that while water is encouraged juice is not, except at break times and lunchtimes. The exception to this is at milk time when juice ( non-fizzy ) is perfectly acceptable. Session dates : Dates for the year can be found on the reverse of this letter. Keep it in a safe place. Website : We will be revamping the website over the next few months and adding new features. It can be checked out at westbarnsprimaryschool.com If you have any queries or concerns regarding anything please contact the school. Yours sincerely David Wharton Headteacher
Dear Parents Welcome to the last newsletter of 2007. Hopefully the information for you will be in your hands at this moment, however, if your child has lost, destroyed or eaten it, you will never know what the newsletter says ( in fact you won’t know that I mentioned you may not have it….). Enough, already! Off we go! P1/2/3 Party The P1/2 party takes place tomorrow afternoon. It is due to finish at 3.30pm. If you have a child who is normally transported by bus or taxi and you wish them to get the later transport please let the school know, or we will assume that you will be picking them up at the school. Closing Assembly The closing assembly will take place on Friday at 11.15 in the school. The children will be dismissed when the assembly is finished ( approx 12pm ). If your child normally gets transport home, or is transported to an after school club, and you want this to be the case on Friday, please get in touch with the school in order that we can make arrangements. Milk Money I am asked to inform you that milk money will be due on the week we return to school. Pied Piper The children of P4/5 ( with some assistance from P2 & P3 ) will be performing their musical tonight at 7.30pm. We hope that they will be well supported and that many of you will come along to the school. There is no charge! The show will be over by 8pm. On behalf of all the staff of the school may I wish you a happy Christmas and a Peaceful and Prosperous New Year. Yours sincerely David Wharton Headteacher |
